AsZension Is a Canadian progressive/instrumental band formed by Kevin Thiessen and Calvin Shiu in 2007, which focuses on fusing metal and progressive rock with a wide array of instrumentation,ethnic soundscapes and musical styles. The bands self-titled debut album was released on January 1st 2012, and also features drummer Kyle Sheppard (Kymatica,Datura,ex-Alone Against Rome) with quest appearances by guitarist Evan Arnott (Datura,Alone Against Rome) and bassist David Philippe (Surf Dragons), plus a bonus vocal performance by Geoff Ross (Alone Against Rome,Salival) on the Gentle Giant cover track ''Playing The Game''. AsZension is primarily a studio project with plans of evolving to live performances in the future.
